My Portuguese Dream

A year full of happiness, some sadness, laugh, tears, love, good food, pleasant weather (in winter), amazing places, touching moments and sand&sea, hot-tempered friendly citizens and a great company.

I am sure I will pack my bags again one day to return. Not only because of the fact I am leaving here people I truly love, but mainly because I want to live my "Portuguese dream" again.

This is not exactly an outft post. This is a memory of one wonderful day.

CZ/ Rok plný radosti, někdy smutku, smíchu, slz, lásky, dobrého jídla, příjemného počasí (v zimě), úžasných míst, dojemné momentů a písku&moře, temperamentních přátelských občanů a skvělých lidí kolem.
Jsem si jistá, že se jednou sbalím a vrátím zpátky. Nejen kvůli tomu že tady nechávám lidi, které mám hluboko v srdci, ale hlavně proto, že si chci znovu žít svůj "portugalský sen".

To není úplně outfitový článek. Je to vzpomínka na jeden krásný den.

Hey sweethearts!

    I have been thinking last days how the World is crazy. The weather, the people, their attitudes. I would never expect to freeze (almost) in May in Portugal. As well as I would not expect that Czech weather would be much better than the one in the south. The hot south and the cold north (from Portuguese point of view) does not count anymore.

     Have you guys got the feeling that althought you thought your the weak one and you have been thinking that you are the bad cell of anything (at the moment) you find later (after years) that you actually were the strongest and the one above those things? It feels like waking up from a dream finding out that the reality is much better.

    I love people who respect each other. Yeah, you say of course she does. What actually means to respect? Is it that you let elder people to seat, men open door first, you start to eat when all people sit down to the table? 
     Or is more like looking after the needs of someone who is not just part of your family, care about her/his opinion, listen, not telling false tales, play fairly, not interrupting while speaking, not being too loud, being kind, give attention, show acceptance.. It is been much more to me lately (am I getting old?). I met someone (actually two peple to be fair), who are just the great example of that. They mean a world to me, but it took a while. On the other hand I see the others who are a very opposite of that and it made realize how important is to be a good mannered and respectful for being a good person.  Actually the best person you can be!

I thought I will never buy these boots but I was walking in them through the whole spring (literally). You could already see the skirt on my blog a year ago. The tee is my haul from sales at the beginning of the year. I love the print but unfortunately not so much the material. I almost forgot that these are my first pictures with bangs! I feel great about the decision to cut it this way.

Poslední dny přemýšlím, jak je ten svět šílený. Počasí, lidé, jejich chování. Nikdy bych nečekala, že budu mrznout (skoro teda) v květnu v Portugalsku. Stejně jako bych nečekala, že české počasí bude mnohem lepší, než tady na jihu. Teplý jih a studený sever (z portugalského pohledu) už neplatí.

      Už jste někdy měli takový pocit, že jste si mysleli, že právě vy jste ten slaboch a že právě vy jste ten špatný článek čehokoli (v té době) a později jste zjistili, (po letech), že jste vlastně byli těmi nejsilnějšími a nad věcí? Cítíte se, jako byste se probudili ze snu a zjistili, že ta realita je mnohem lepší.

     Mám ráda lidi, kteří se navzájem respektují. Jasně, říkáte si, samozřejmě, že má ráda takové lidi. Co ale vlastně znamená "respektovat"? Je to o tom, že necháte starší lidi sednout, muži otevřou dveře jako první, počkáte až si všichni sednou ke stolu než začnete jíst začnete jíst?

     Nebo je to spíš o tom, že vás zajímají potřeby někoho, kdo není součástí vaší rodiny, berete v potaz její/jeho názor, posloucháte, nevykládáte falešné pohádky, hrajete férově, neskáčete do řeči, nejste příliš hlasití, jste laskaví, dáváte najevo svůj zájem a souhlas.. Tak nějak to pro mě teď znamená více než kdy předtím (stárnu?). Potkala jsem někoho (vlastně jsou dva, abych byla upřímná), kteří jsou skvělým příkladem toho, o čem mluvím. Znamenají pro mě hodně, ale chvíli mi to trvalo to objevit. Na druhou stranu jsou takoví, kteří jsou pravým opakem toho, a to mě asi přimělo si uvědomit si, jak je důležité být dobře vychovaný a zdvořilý, aby jste byli skvělým člověkem. Vlastně jen tím nejlepší, jakým můžete být!

    Měla jsem za to, že si nikdy nekoupím tyto boty, ale pak jsem v nich prochodila celé jaro ( a to doslova). Sukni jste viděli na blogu už před rokem.Triko je můj úlovek ze zimních slev ze začátku roku. Moc se mi líbí ten potisk, ale už tolik ne ten materiál. Málem bych zapomněla, tohle jsou moje první fotky s ofinou! Cítím se skvěle a jsem ráda, že jsem se takto nechala ostříhat.

Interview: Portugal In My Eyes

Hello guys,

A while ago I was asked by Bella to answer some questions about my stay in Portugal. I was really happy to get such a oppurtunity to say a few words about the country of Port wine and my life here, because it feels like I could not choose better place to stay last half-year. Some of you have already noticed I am based in Portugal now and I got many questions about that topic. I was thinking about writting a special post related to my stay, but the interview with Bella is pretty much decribing everything - the reason why I am here, my life, the things I love about Portugal as well as the ones I do not like that much.

Czechs abroad Portugal

Continue in your favorite series! Today you will get to know how is to live in Portugal, where Marketa has been based already for some time. What is she doing and how is life there?

I visited Portugal for the first time almost three years ago

And I should be ashamed that I did not know much of this beautiful country. Over the next three years, I came here several times. Definitely unforgettable were Easter here. When I got an offer to study abroad, I was deciding between Norway and Portugal. Opposite sides of the same coin I could say. Portugal won, because I knew what to expect, I knew that I have people who may help me, if I had any problem and most importantly I was sure that I will feel like at home in Portugal. In that moment, I had no idea how much home I will actually feel here.
I would summarize it like -  it was love what brought me here at first. Later I fell in love with the local people, the food, climate, culture... Portugal is the country of my heart and it will be my second home forever. As I mentioned, I am studying here and occasionally working. I have a few friends who are from Portugal, although they do not live here. And another friends I found here. I like their nature and so I can quickly find friends here. Even my flatmate is Portuguese.

I'm learning Portuguese ...

... Since I came here for the first time. Now it is more progressive. I have a private teacher and I am in that particular environment. I understand about 80%, but I'm afraid to speak. Basically I still speak English, they understand me almost everywhere, and when they do not, I start to speak my very funny portuguese. :)

What surprised me are very friendly and helpful people

At the beginning, very often happened to me that we did not understand each other, because I did not know even a bit of the language, but they never stopped talking to me. Though I understood very little, it gave me a feeling like I belonged to them. People who know me say that I am a multicultural person, so I can get very quickly used to any environment anywhere in the world. Certainly what I got skocked about the most was Portuguese welcome style. I'm Czech so I am used to shake hand and keep myself in the social area. Here it is different, everybody are giving two kisses, even several times a day, if you see each other more than once. And they keep only in the intimate zone. This was such a culture shock for me! The same happens in church, instead of the shaking hands, you give two kisses. I got pretty used to it, but only for one welcome per day. :)

I would bring to the Czech Republic ...

... friendly, smiling, usually very positive people, food (love it!), port wine, music, weather, sea. A lot of things. On the contrary, I would give Portuguese a little of Czech coldness, responsibility and I would definitely learn them to come on time!

Traditional food ...

.... is so called cold fish (fish from Norway), potatoes and cabbage. I love Portuguese food, although it contains a lot of meat, what I personally do not eat much. However, I love seafood. And also different variations of bakery goods. I cannot forget the port wine, which is so yummy. I am missing Czech pie and cakes.

About fashion ...

 ... people wear either Vans or such a huge orange-yellow boots by Cat, Timberland and they pair it with absolutely everything. Girls combine them with elegant skirt and guys with suit. It is Portuguese distinguishing mark.

I will have to return to the Czech Republic

For the last year of university because of bachelor thesis and state exams. My dream is to live abroad. I have in my mind some place in Europe, so that is not too far from family. So far, I have been heading to the south from the Czech Republic. Portugal could be one of the places, but I'll see where the wind takes me after graduation.

Před časem jsem byla požádaná Bellou, abych odpověděla na několik otázek týkající se mého pobytu v Portugalsku. Mám opravdu radost, že jsem dostala příležitost, zmínit něco o zemi portského vína a mém životě v ní, protože toto je nejlepší země jakou jsem si mohla vybrat posledního půl roku, co tady žiji. Mnoho z vás to už asi zaznamenalo na mém blogu a dostala jsem na toto téma několik otázek. Přemýšlela jsem o tom, že napíši post speciálně na toto téma, ale rozhovor s Bellou popisuje v podstatě všechno - důvod proč tady jsem, můj život tady, věci, které na Portugalsku zbožňuji i ty které tolik nemusím.

Heya!

how are you? I am enjoying the weather here in Portugal. Love the days when I wake up and see the sun shinning. It still feels like summer! And I really do not want to make you enviosus..lol The true is that mornings and nights are a bit colder but during the day is still pretty hot. Yesterday was the temperature reaching 30°C/86°F. Who wouldn't love Portugal then! I am still busy with the classes in here and solving out the accomodation. When I settle down a bit I believe I will post much often again. Now I am going to do some readings and after spend a nice day with a friend.

jak se máte? Já si užívám tady toho počasí v Portugalsku. Miluju ty rána, kdy se probudím a vidím jak venku svítí sluníčko. Jakoby stále ještě bylo léto! Ne, nechci se vám vychloubat.. lol Pravdou ale je, že ráno a večer je celkem chladno, ale během dne je stále pěkně horko. Včera teploměr ukazoval až 30 ° C/86 ° F. Kdo by pak nemiloval Portugalsko! Jinak stále ještě bojuji s rozvrhem a taky bytem. Doufám, že až se usadím, budu postovat zase častěji. Teď se jdu vrhnout na nějakou povinnou četbu a pak utíkám ven s kamarádkou.

A co vy děláte o víkendu?

I Am Over The Edge No Turning Back

Hi there!

     First of all thank you very very much for all the sweets comments and emails I got lately. You are amazing! It really makes me happy and cheers me up!

     When the real summer hits streets I like to wear comfy, chic clothes. I prefer flats rather than high heels even I go out for a drink in the evening. This outfit is one of those I wear when the city is fallen in darkness. Obviously I feel better wearing high heels when I go to party, but little change doesn't hurt.

What about you guys? Do you prefer high heels rather than flats for a night out?

      The summer is about to turn to Autumn, but there is still a lot of things I haven't done yet and I promised to myself I will do so this summer. I guess you know what I mean. I've planned many trips and adventures, but only a half of my ideas has been realized or is about to. I'm going to Vienna this week and then to Grand Prix.

      Na začátek děkuji moc za všechny za ty krásné komentáře a e-maily, které jsem dostala v poslední době. Jste skvělí! Opravdu mi to dělá mi to radost a taky mě to povzbuzuje!

      Když léto udeří, tak jak v posledních dnech, volím pohodlné, chic oblečení. Dávám přednost nízkým botám nad vysokými a to i když jdu večer ven. Tento outfit je jedním z těch, které nosím, když město padne do tmy. Samozřejmě, že se na večerní akci tak nějak cítím když mám podpatky, ale malá změna nebolí.

A co vy? Dáváte přednost podpatkům, když jdete večer ven?

     Léto se pomalu přehoupává v podzim, ale je ještě spousta věcí, které jsem nestihla a přestože jsem si slíbila, že "to" udělám právě letos v létě. Myslím, že víte, o čem mluvím. Naplánovala jsem si spoustu výletů, ale jen polovina se vůbec zrealizovala, nebo se na to chystá. Tento týden se chystám do Vídně a pak Grand Prix.
